Skystar-1 DVB receiver driver for OpenBSD

Welcome! This page is dedicated to the OpenBSD driver for the Technisat Skystar-1 DVB receiver card.
Since this card itself is based on the Siemens Fujitsu card, other cards that share the same design
(Hauppauge WinTV DVB-s, Galaxis, and probably others) may also work, with or without minor modifications.

While satellite DVB-IP is best used with standalone receivers such as IPricot or Skystream, this driver finally
makes it possible for OpenBSD users to benefit from one-way data services without expensive receivers.
Windows, Linux and FreeBSD users have been taking this for granted for quite a while.

This may not be the very first DVB driver for OpenBSD, but a vicious Internet hunt for any DVB card driver
for OpenBSD had failed. That's why we decided to port (*) the existing FreeBSD driver, which was
originally written by Stanislav Golovin: http://freebsddvb.narod.ru

The driver consists of two parts, the kernel driver and dvbd, the daemon that runs it.

The driver: skystar_obsd.tgz
DVBd: dvbd_obsd.tgz

Instructions are in the README file, everything is pretty straightforward and simple.
If you have any comments or improvements, please don't hesitate to send to: dvb@alloyant.com
