While broadband wireless networks have major advantages, they do not differ much from their wired counterparts in the need for effective management, and their geographical dispersion of nodes contributes to their complexity.
To enable simple, centralized, and effective management StreamStar comes with an EMS (Element Management System) application suite which offers all tools necessary to successfully and easily run a broadband wireless network. The EMS allows operators to focus on their business assisted by the powerful software tools.
The EMS is a set of client/server GUI applications, featuring an SQL database for storage of all data, management of elements comprehensive alert and event logging, drill-down performance reporting, and real-time monitoring. Client, server and database applications all run on the standard Windows platform and the EMS is an entirely graphical, point and click interface.
The EMS is scalable from a few units to thousands of elements, all managed from a single console. EMS propagates changes to the elements themselves, and once configuration is deployed, the network will operate even if the EMS is not operational.
Unified management brings an entire network under a single umbrella and greatly reduces administrative overhead, and in many cases making the difference between an operator’s business success and failure.
